Dr. Miriam Isaacs has conducted her most important research and published numerous academic articles on issues of language loyalty in the Displaced Persons Camps and on Yiddish use by contemporary Hasidim. Besides teaching in universities, Dr. Isaacs has taught Yiddish in many international venues in adult education and study abroad. She also teaches for assorted organizations focused on cultural perpetuation. She has published memoirs on being a child of Holocaust survivors.

Two lectures by pioneering genocide scholar Adam Jones: “Denying Rwanda: Genocide and Genocide Denial in the 21st Century” and “Gender and Genocide.”
Adam Jones is a political scientist, writer, and photojournalist based at the University of British Columbia. He is executive director of the nongovernmental organization Gendercide Watch. He was chosen as one of “50 Key Thinkers on the Holocaust and Genocide” for the book of that name.
Dr. Jones is best known for his work in comparative genocide studies and his pioneering analyses of gender within genocidal violence. He is author of the leading textbook in the field, Genocide: A Comprehensive Introduction, and author or editor of numerous other works on violence and crimes against humanity, most recently The Scourge of Genocide: Essays and Reflections (Routledge, 2013).

This event is part of this series: “The Office of International Programs is pleased to announce the Immigration Today Film and Discussion Forum, a discussion series based on Harvest of Empire: The Untold Stories of Latinos in America, a documentary film which explores the history of U.S. connections to seven countries (in Latin American, North America, & the Caribbean) and current immigration relationships between the USA and these countries. Discussions will be held Monday evenings from 5:30 -6:30 pm through November 18, with a culminating event scheduled during International Education Week.
